Five carloads of cones are ready for extrac- tion. This week's obituary column contains a report of the death of George W. Wright, a member of the Acme Seed Co., at Dayton, O. The state purchasing agent of Texas has awarded to the Texas Seed & Floral Co., of Dallas, the contract to furnish garden seed to the different charitable institutions during the ensuing fiscal year. The steamer from Rotterdam that ar- rived at New York August 3 brought the first Dutch bulbs of the season, two cases for Peter Henderson & Co., one for the Metropolitan Steamship Co., and twenty- two for Maltus & Ware. The Forrest Seed Co., of Cortland, N. Y., has just been incorporated to grow, import, export and deal in seeds, with a capital stock of $20,000, fully paid in. The company has a growing station in Canada, where it grows peas, and stations in New York state, for corn and beans, which have been grown for the last five years. The directors for the first year are William Forrest, Lulu M. Forrest and Wilton A. Mabee. Work has been begun in the erection
