The eleventh annual outing of the Greek-American Florists' Association of New Yorlv was held at Witzel's Grove, College Point, N. Y., July 11. The opening was not auspicious, as rain began to fall early in the day and by the time the "elegant steamer Ajax" left the dock the downpour had increased to a torrent. Nevertheless, about 200 men, women and children were on board, and an excellent band, which furnished good music, including "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "; On arrival at the grove, a substantial breakfast was served. By the time the repast was over the weather was more favorable, temporarily at least, and the programme of races and games was carried out under more favorable conditions than were expected in the morning. The various events and awards follow: Boys' race, under 10 years, 100 yards —George Cosmas, first; E. Chinyos, second. Girls' race, under 10 years, 100 yards —Florence Doctors, first; Anna Las- kas, second. Young ladies' race, all ages, 100 yards—Miss A. French, first; Miss Sophie Kiriazl, second. Married ladies' racei 100 yards— Mrs. George Orth, first; Mrs. Demas, second. , Young men's race, 200 yards—James Laskas, first; Louis Hanges, second. Broad jumping—P. J. Lecakes, first; Theodore Cherakos, second. Race for members. 200 yards—P. Anntonakos, first; C. M. Sakelos, sec- ond. Greek marathon race, two miles- Joseph Walter, first; A. Nemrikes, sec- ond; M. Karoginis, third. Both the condition of the ground and the at- mosphere were unfavorable for long- distance racing, and the winner, Jo- seph Walter, an American employed by P. L.
