Martian landscape. This HiRISE image shows landforms on the surface of Mars. Nili Fossae is often on the short-list for potential landing sites for exploration, usually due to the interesting minerals that have been detected here. The CRISM instrument onboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has helped to confirm large exposures of olivine and other minerals like iron oxides. Nili Fossae is a large group of concentric grabens located near the Isidis impact basin in the N Hemisphere of Mars. Terrain shown is less than 5km acrossAn optimised version of NASA imagery.
