State Russian Museum is the largest collection of the Russian fine art in St Petersburg. After the Russian Revolution of 1917, many private collections were nationalized and relocated to the Russian Museum. The Mikhailovsky Palace is a principal wing of this, it celebrated its centenary in 1998. It is a storehouse of treasures with pictures of Russia through the ages.
