This certificate was awarded by the Humane Society of Massachusetts in recognition of Captain Charles Barr’s efforts in saving life at Marblehead. Charles Barr was an accomplished sailing skipper who captained the winning America's Cup yacht three times. He is also best known for setting the record for the fastest crossing by a sailing yacht of the Atlantic Ocean on the schooner ATLANTIC in the 1905 Kaiser's Cup Transatlantic Race.
