The Common Mormon butterfly, latin name Papilio polytes, is a common species of swallowtail butterfly that is widely distributed across Asia. This butterfly is known for the mimicry displayed by its females. They mimic rose and red-bodied swallowtails, that are inedible and unattractive for predators. This butterfly adapts very well in many environments, ranging from trop¬i¬cal and sub¬trop¬i¬cal areas to open forests in¬ter¬spersed with mead¬ows, agri¬cul¬tural fields and even large cities.
