De Yang Kuei -Fei KerSenbloesem, yashima gakutei, c. 1821 --c. 1822 Yang Kuei-Fei (719-56), known as Yôkihi in Japan, was the favorite concubine of the Chinese T'ang Keizer Hsüan Tsung (685-762). The cherry blossom named after her (Yôkihisakura) is said to have originated in the city of Nara. With two poems, one poem told about the origin of the cherry blossom: the cherry blossom known as the Yôkihi comes from China - that is why it blooms spring in the Yoshino Bergen - and these are indeed, south of Nara.
