Berlin, Germany. 11th December 2021. Pictured: Young members of the AfD march through centre Berlin with the dome of the Reichstag building in the background. / Activists from the Young Alternative for Germany, the youth arm of the right-wing, populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, gathered in central Berlin to denounce the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions in Germany. Protesters began their rally at 15:00 on Washingtonplatz before marching through the government buildings district in the German capital. The Berlin Alliance against Right, an amalgamation of clubs, associations and left-wing as well as anti-fascist groups, organised a counter-protest on the AfD demonstration route and an anti-fascist demonstration to Washingtonplatz in order to continue the protest at the final rally of the right-wing populist demonstration. These counter-protests were organized by the alliance together with Stand Up Against Racism.
