No advertising usage in consumer or trade magazines without prior written approval Walter Pitts. Portrait of the US mathematician Walter Pitts (1923-1969). Together with Warren MacCulloch, a US neurobiologist, Pitts developed the concept of neuronal networks. They co-authored the classic 1943 paper, A Logical Calculus of Ideas Immanent in Nervous Activity. In 1947, Pitts moved to work with Norbert Wiener at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. Pitts vanished into obscurity in the late 1950s, and he is reputed to have attempted to erase all traces of his past existence. Photographed at MIT in 1954. ***** NO ADVERTISING USAGE IN CONSUMER OR TRADE MAGAZINES WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN APPROVAL *****
