Hill's album of biography and art : containing portraits and pen-sketches of many persons who have been and are prominent as religionists, military heroes, inventors, financiers, scientists, explorers, writers, physicians, actors, lawyers, musicians, artists, poets, sovereigns, humorists, orators and statesmen, together with chapters relating to history, science, and important work in which prominent people have been engaged at various periods of time. e they bring individual, personal gain, they willbenefit the public as well. The desire to acquire wealth, therefore, is legiti-mate. If no wrong is done to others by the acquisition,it is unquestionably for the worlds benefit that there belarge individual wealth attained, as the mind, able toacquire, is able to wisely control the expenditure, found-ing manufactories and various enterprises by whichthousands of the poor may be employed. In the business relations of life there are three classesof mind—the men who depend upon being employed byothers; the men partially independent, but still suffi-ciently dependent as to desire a partnership, and thosemen who are capable and prefer to exercise their individ-uality, choosing, in their business relations, to beentirely free from partnership restraints in their methodsof procedure. The power for individual acquisition of wealth by raenwho prefer to act alone, is illustrated in the lives of thefinanciers who are considered in this ^i. ..n.
