Mr. Frye has been re-electedcity clerk at each subsequent electionannually and still holds the position,for which it is but justice to say he isadmirably equipped and thoroughly effi-cient. His books and records are mod-els of neatness and correctness, and inthe discharge of his official duties hehas no superior in this line in NewHampshire. He was auditor of thestate treasurers accounts in 1897, ap-pointed by Governor Busiel. William Nelson, street commissionerof the city of Laconia, and also super-intendent of the sewer department andcity engineer, is a native Laconian, born. William Nelson. April 20, 1871, his parents being B. and Susan E. Nelson. Hewas educated in our public schools andgraduated from the Laconia Highschool in the Class of 87. The fol-lowing year, Mr. Nelson commencedthe study of civil engineering, and heis generally admitted to have acquireda very proficient education in this pro-fession. He was appointed superin-tendent of the Laconia sewer depart-ment in 1892, city engineer in 1894,and street commissioner in 1897, andstill holds all three positions, managingthese three important departments ofmunicipal work very acceptably.
