Peak District, Derbyshire, UK. 30th December 2013. A field has disappeared into a giant sink hole at Foolow in The Derbyshire Peak District. Locals claim the huge hole, measuring more than 160 ft across and 130 ft deep, which began collapsing yesterday and is still growing, was caused when part of the old Mill Dam Lead Mine caved-in below after heavy rain. Electricity engineers visited the site today to assess how to re-route electricity cables after two electricity poles were left standing precariously either side of the hole.
