AN explosion of considerable violence shook the town of Wolfe-boro, New Hampshire, early in the morning of December 19,1924, when the boiler in the laundry of HaVry E> Libby laundry was completely demolished including a 35 ft. brick stack,and general property damage in excess of $11,000 was sustained. Apicture of the scene of the accident is shown on our front cover. The boiler was of the locomotive wet bottom type with Y/\ inchshell plates, 18 ft. 6 inches long and 40 inches in diameter of was a two course boiler and the longitudinal seams were of thelap joint type and located on the bottom of the boiler. A Dutch ovenwas connected to the fire-box so that wood waste which comprised alarge part of the fuel could be economically burned. It had been the custom at this plant
