The ancient Roman temple of the Emperor Hadrian, on the Sacred Way at Ephesus, Turkey. Ephesus was the site where a Mother Goddess was first worshipped, where earth and heaven met, in Diana of Ephesus, and (later) where the cult of the Virgin Mary was ratified.
