North Sea oil industry. Drilling rig Noble Ton Van Langeveld moored in Cromarty Firth, Scotland, with a rainbow in the background. This semi-submersible drilling rig can move under its own power, and is designed to be moored over an oil well, where it will drill down to open up the well and obtain the oil. The Noble Ton Van Langeveld was built in 1979, and it is operated by Noble Drilling Corporation. It can operate in water up to 450 metres deep, and can drill down to depths of several kilometres.
