Yellow triplefin blenny, Tripterygion delaisi, and the smaller Striped blenny, Parablennius rouxi, on a reef in Malta, Med. sea

These small blennies inhabitat shallow waters where rocky reefs are present and light intensity is lower, such as overhangs and cave entrances. The colourful background is a sponge overgrowing the rocky reef base. The blennies are only a few cm long and feed on smaller benthic invertebrates. They show a wide distribution range across the Mediterranean Sea and eastern Atlantic.
