The membership increased and became the recognized center of social and mental culture, and,with the purpose of encouraging all movements for the betterment of society, to further the educa-tion of

The ordinance passed, and is still in effect. The membership increased and became the recognized center of social and mental culture, and,with the purpose of encouraging all movements for the betterment of society, to further the educa-tion of women and foster a generous public spirit in the community, it was deemed wise to divide thelarge body into smaller departments in order to facilitate study along different lines to suit the diversetastes of its members. In the fifth year, work of a philanthropic nature was undertaken and proved a success in everyrespect. There was an ardent campaign, which resulted in carrying the High School Bonds; also, NEW HOME OF THE TUESDAY CLUB.
