St Thomas' Hospital, Lambeth Palace Road, Lambeth, London, 31/07/1970. Cranes at St Thomas' Hospital during the construction of new blocks. Work on Phase II of a rebuilding project at St Thomas' Hospital was undertaken by Laing and began in early 1969. Phase I had been completed in 1966 by Sir Robert McAlpine and Sons. The second phase included a new ward block, operating suites, outpatients' department, research institute, nurses' home and nurses' training school. Phase III of the project was planned to begin in 1975.
