Sensory technology research. Sensory researcher recording and categorising the sensations perceived (here, opacity) when handling a variety of materials. The establishment of a sensory profile is characteristic of a specific material. This helps technology companies design products to meet the needs and perceptions of their users. A collection of several thousand samples has been sorted according to the sensory properties of the materials. This research is being carried out at CERTESENS (Centre d'Etudes et de Recherche sur les Technologies du Sensoriel) at the University of Tours, Tours, France. Photographed in 2012.
