Mr. Wood-man declined a re-election in Janu-ary 1868, and William ShepardStevens was elected January 30, thatyear and continued President untilhis death in 1897, a period of 29years. Elisha Rhodes Brown waselected Mr. Stevens successor April26, 1897, which office he has held con-tinuously for 15 years. Asa Alford Tufts served as cashierof the National Bank until January1, 1876, making a total of his ser-. Living Room Mr. Browns Summer Camp Hodgdon 2 years; Daniel Osborn 6years till the charter expired. The cashiers were Walter Cooper 14years; William Woodman 29 years. The Strafford Bank, under thenew charter, and shorter name, hadfor President continuously to 1865,William Woodman; and the cashierfor the same time was Asa A. Tufts, aperiod of 19 years. When the State Bank changed tothe National in 1865, July 2, and Mr. Tufts continued vice as cashier, 30 years, Rhodes Brown was chosenhis successor and served from Janu-ary 1, 1876 to April 26, 1897, aperiod of 21 years. Charles SumnerCartland was elected cashier whenMr. Brown was elected president,and has served continuously to thepresent time, a period of 15 the cashiers during the 109 yearswere only five in number, viz.: Cooper14 years, Woodman 29 years, Tufts 30years, Brown 21 years and Cartland 15
