Construction work 'for the further ex- ploitation of the vast iron ore deposits of the Spanish-American Iron Co. are under way. The railroad, standard guage, is nearly all graded. Fourteen miles of it is comparatiA'ely level, then follows three miles of inclined planes up to twenty-five per cent, grade to the mines. Bridges are laeing built and the pier at Nipe Bay is finished. The village of Felton on the bay is also under construction. A power plant and ore and coal handling machinery are now in course of construction, and the compan yexpects the enterprise will be in operation in December, 1908. NEW CUSTOMS OFFICERS.
