Wells, Jr., was the eldest child born to his parents. He was educated inthe public schools of Willard and in the Agricultural College of Logan and was graduatedfrom tlie mechanical department of that institution in 1898. Prior to his graduationhe was employed at the carpenters trade, which he followed as a journeyman until1907. He then entered his present business and has served as architectural draftsman. CARSON F. WELLS, Je. UTAH SINCE STATEHOOD 553 in the office of R. K. A. Kletting. one of the leading arcliitects of Salt Lake, who made theplans for the state capitol. Mr. Wells entered business at Brigham as a draftsmanwith Andrew Funk, with whom he continued for six months. Mr. Funk was thencalled on a mission, during which time Mr. Wells maintained and carried on the busi-ness. After his return, however, Mr. Funk turned over the entire business to Mr. Wellsand he has since conducted it alone. He was licensed as an architect by the stateboard of architects and he is a member of the Utah State Architects Association. Hespecializes largely in school buildings and in this work has gained a wide and wellmerited reputation. He also gives considerable attention to the building of homesand he is recognized as a most prominent architect of Boxelder county. Many structuresstand as monuments to his skill and ability and the Portage school,
