The latter work is done either in the quarry, or undercover when a purer asbestos is desired. For this work boys from 14 to16 years of age are employed. As magnetic iron ore is sometimesfound in the asbestos, particular attention must be paid that the fibresare not unnecessarily damaged in separating the mineral.
