It haslimestone quarries, and the surface of the country is rolling andfertile, and well settled by intelligent farmers. In the fall of1881 a five per cent, tax was voted for a railroad through BurrOak, known as the Minnesota, Iowa & Southwestern, running fromLa Crosse southwest, and there are prospects that it will be built,and increase the importance and business of the
