The ginkgo tree, Ginkgo biloba, is a very ancient tree in evolutionary terms, and in the wild is unique to China. Fortunately, it has been widely propagated and is very common in gardens in temperate regions around the world. This image shows it in a garden in Devon, in southwest England. Taken in autumn, this image captures this tree in its autumnal glory, all its leaves a golden yellow shortly before they fall to the ground as winter sets in.
