This set was purchased in February, 1909, and is em-ployed for testing the old and new car equipments and, beingmounted in a car with other testing apparatus, can easily betaken from depot to depot. The usual electrical tests of cir-cuits, controllers, motors, armatures, fields and resistances,etc., can be made with it. Since this car has been in service it has thoroughly tested2300 cars. BRAKING TESTS In connection with braking tests and for the requirements ofthe transportation department a car has been equipped with aspeedometer. The transpor-tation department uses this car to show motormen the speedsat which they run and by measuring the distance, the lengths inwhich stops can be made when running at various speeds.
