The pillars andcolumns in the crypt support a vaulted roof, throughwhich some of them pierce into the choir above andcarry on here the work begun on the lower of these columns are very graceful, and wouldalmost seem like feathers rising from the blocks ofsolid stone and masonry which are placed at limitedintervals abou
