When all efforts looking toward concurrent action of the two Houses seemed unavailing the House referredthe canvass of votes to a committee of its own, which committee reported that Nicholas Staub had a majorityfor Comptroller greater than the rejected ballots in dispute. A joint resolution declaring Mr. Staub elected passed the House, and Mr Staub. with Comptroller Wrightsconcurrence, afterwards took the office and has transacted its business.
