In the springof 1904, in discussing these things with a few of our young men,Dr. John Morgan observed that the fundamental fact thattuberculosis cannot successfully attack a healthy pair of lungs,was quite disregarded. Physical exercise necessary to developand strengthen the chest and lungs was absolutely , although there were seventy thousand colored people inNew York at that time, and the big city fairly teemed withathletic clubs of all kinds, recreation centers, playgrounds, settle-ments, schools.
