Tibet: 'Akshobya in His Eastern Paradise with Cross of Light'. Fresco in the Three-Level-Temple of Alchi, Ladakh, Tibet, 11th century. Akshobya ('Immovable One'), also known as Achu Fuo, Ashuku Butsu and Asop, is one of the Five Wisdom Buddhas in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. Representing consciousness as an aspect of reality, he is the lord of the Eastern Pure Land Abhirati ('The Joyous'), in the east of the Diamond Realm. Akshobya embodies 'mirror knowledge', or knowledge of what is real and what is illusion. He is normally accompanied by two elephants, and his consort is Lochana.
