In the House he served on general and local judi-ciary committees; in the Senate, on local, judiciary,railroad, and corporation committees. In both Houseand Senate, in all legislative controversies betweencapital and labor, he was always on the side of theoppressed, constantly looking out for the interests ofthe laboring classes, and was not tenderly loved bythe grasping monopolists of Pennsylvania.
