He is a director of the Riverside Bank,as well as of the corporation of which he is Treasurer. He is a mem-ber of the Union League and St. Nicholas clubs, the Society of Colo-nial Wars, the Sons of the Kevolution, the Sons of Veterans, and theMilitarv Order of the Loval McCREADY, NATHANIEL LHOMMEDIEU, after being edu-cated in New York City, and receiving a linsiness training in the ship-ping trade at Mobile, Ala., in 1840returned to New ^Ork City andcstalilislicd the >^hiiii)ing and com-iiiission tirm of N. In 1865, after a success-ful quarter of a contury as head ofthis firm, he withdrew and engagedin the management of a steam-siiip line, in association with Liv-ingston, Fox & Company. In 1807he organized the now famous OldDominion Steamship Com]iany, in18t)t» became its President, and socontinued until his death, October3, 1887. He was also Bresident ofthe Missouri, Kansas and TexasRailway Company, and for fourteenyears was on its directorate. Hewas a director of the Farmers Loanand Trust Company, the Empireand the Washington Life InsuranceCompany. He was a member of tlie New York Chamber of Commerce,an honorary member of the ^Marine Society, and a member of theUnion and St
