Soundproof door in the lobby of the Royal Opera House, originally called the House of Musical Arts, the Royal Opera House Muscat, ROHM, in Shati Al-Qurm, Muscat, Oman, was commissioned by His Royal Highness the Sultan Qaboos of Oman, who is passionate about classical music and the arts. Boasting a concert theatre, auditorium, landscaped gardens, a retail section with restaurants and an art centre, the project also houses state-of-the-art interactive seating technology by Radio Marconi. Top names who have performed here include Plácido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, soprano Renée Fleming, Yo Yo Ma, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Arab singer Um Kalthoum
