MECEBURI FOREST RESERVE, NEAR NAMPULA, MOZAMBIQUE, May 2010: The team working with Simple License holder Batacha Manuel Mualique drag away a small piece of trunk as they work to remove the main trunk of a Chanfuta or Afzelia Guanzensis tree, a valuable hardwood, which will sell for $300. A large area of the forest has to be destroyed to remove the heavy trunk and take it out of the woodland. The rest if the tree will be left behind, providing a hazard once dried out for any forest fires. Photo by Mike Goldwater
