HMS London, Two-decker Wooden Converted Screw Ship of the Line. From: The British Battle Fleet, its inception and growth throughout the centuries to the present day. Volume 1, by Fred T. Jane, published by Library Press Limited, London. 1915. This was the eighth Royal Navy vessel to bear the London name. She entered service in 1840 with 92 guns. In 1858 she was converted to a 72 gun screw propulsion vessel, as pictured. She subsequently became a harbour storeship in 1874 before being sold ten years later.
