The works of Thomas Carlyle extend over variousfields of literature, translations from the German,critical essays, political and satirical pamphlets, bio-graphy, and history. He is the author of many. THOMAS CARLYLE. volumes, and commands the attention and admirationof a large body of readers. His chief works in thehistoric branch which he cultivated were, TheFrench Revolution ; Oliver Cromwells Letters andSpeeches; and the History of Frederick H., calledthe Great.
