We do not feign a Subjeft, andthen difcant upon it, for Diverfion ; but en-deavour to give an intelligible and rationalAccount of fuch Matters of Faft, paft or fu-ture, as are there fpecified and it hath feemd good to the Holy Ghoftto communicate to us, by Hijftory or Prophe-cy, concerning the feveral States and generalChanges of this Earth, makes the Argumentof our Difcourfe. Therefore the things them-felves muft be taken for granted, in one fenfeor other, feeing, befides all other Proofs, theyhave the Authority of a Revelation ; and ourBufinefs is only to give fuch an Explication ofthem, as fhall approve it felf to the FacultiesfefMan, and be conformable to Scripture.
