Columbia River Lumber Company—Hauling Logs to Golden Mill. of Vancouver. The company was organized in the year 1887 with a paid-up capital of $750,000, the leading shareholders being Mr. Wm. Mackenzie, of the Canadian Northern Railway, Mr. Carlin and Mr. F. W. Jones. They commenced operations in 1888, after con- structing a very fine mill at Beavermouth, but have since considerably enlarged their sphere of operations by the purchase in the year 1898 of the properties of the Golden Lumber Com- pany at Golden, Jos. Genelle at Kault, and the Carlin Lumber Company at Carlin.
