Gravestone of David Harkess, who died on North Berwick Law, the result of an accident, on 20th July 1896.


According to the The Cardigan Observer of July 1896:- "On Monday a man named David Harkess, a Blacksmith, residing at Hamilton Street, Govan, was killed falling over the north side of North Berwick Law, a distance of about 400 feet. He is supposed to have slipped and over balanced himself. Deceased, who was about 70 years of age, was on a visit to North Berwick.
