Amistake here may prove fatal through life, and no mancan afford to throw away his time and energies reck-lessly. At the very best we have only one life to liveon earth, and that one is not very long at the NATURAL CAPACITIES. 37 There is many a man who has made perfect shipwreckof himself and his prospects, by rushing hastily andill-advisedly into some business or profession forwhich he was in no wise adapted, and then not findingout his mistake until so many years of his life hadpassed away in experimenting, that it became too lateto change callings to advantage. A mans only alter-native in such a case is to continue on as he begun, and make the best of his choice, or throw up hiscalling and try again with the feeling that he starts inhis new line of work ten or fifteen years behind othersin his class. Either horn of this dilemma will be sureto gore the mind and feelings of the one choosing it,and leave behind a perpetually sore spot in hismemory and consciousness. Therefore we repeat theremark, that this question should be well consideredby all
