GAZETTEER. Abbs Valley, a post-office of Tazewell county, Virginia. Abingdon, a handsome town, capitol of Washington county,Virginia, is pleasantly situated in a valley hetween the mainforks of Holston river, ahout 7 miles from each, 304 miles S. from Richmond, and nearly 8 miles from the houndary ofTennessee. It is the most considerahle and flourishing town inthe S. W. part of Virginia. The situation is elevated, thetown is well huilt, and the principal street is macadamized.
