What Ho, Tojo? Shore Liberty, Let's Go. The owly-eyed sourpuss, hitchhiking a shoulder ride, is Tojo, the monkey mascot of the crew of a Coast Guard-manned invasion transport but there in the Pacific battle waters. Tojo, with that chain and collar, appears pretty sad about the state of things in the Pacific. Not so his mount, Coast Guardsman Russell E. Carper, coxswain, of Belleville, Neb., who doesn't seem to have a care in the world. They're off together for a shore liberty on some remote Pacific island. Carper says, "There's another guy named Tojo, we're going to make a monkey out of.".
