Anbia was diagnosed with Stage IIB Classical Hodgkin's Lymphomia; It is curable with chemotherapy; without chemotherapy, it is fatal. Chemotherapy drugs ar difficult to obtain in Afghanistan. Kerns reached out to various non-governmental agencies and was able to obtain the medicine. Two days after receiving the first dose of medication, Anbia's cancerous growth had noticeably diminished. If the chemotherapy is successful, Anbia has a 90 percent chance of living for the next five years. Without the medication Kerns was able to obtain, Anbia would not have survived.
