A fire truck from the East Village. East Village is probably the social mecca of New York. Unlike Greenwich Village, Village Each has a grungier, more rockin environment. East Village is home to many important artists like The Ramones, Lou Reed, The Velvet Underground plus many punk bands that are still playing today. The Fillmore Auditorium is not running but there are many other open clubs like Coney Island High, CBGB's and Irving Plaza (located just 3 blocks from Hotel 17). In East Village there are also many (but delicious) cheap restaurants, record shops that sell collector discs, many bookstores and clothing stores (from shops to shops with second hand designer clothes). The East Village is probably the most funky part of New York. East Village is full of "socially graceful" people, living a life that could be considered movie.
