Such tracts have been traced for distances up to 3mm. in sections perpen- dicular to the surface; they are about 75^ thick. The spicules are oxeas, straight or gently curved in the middle, tapering grad- ually to sharp points (fig. 27). In some cases there is a step-wise reduction in width.
