Introduced by Mr. Fortune, from China, and regarded as one of his greatest acquisitions. $ var. flore pleno. A strong grower when established; flowers in racemes ; purple, very double; rather a shy bloomer. $ W. frutescens. Shrubby, or Cluster-flowered Wistaria. American. In habit less vigorous than the Chinese. Flowers pale blue in short clusters. 35c. var. alba. White American Wistaria. Flowers clear white; bunches short; free bloomer. $ W. magnifica.
