The majority has German-language captions. The recordings were made in Cameroon around 1899 when the country was partly colonized by the German empire. They are studio portraits of local Cameroon Persons, Van Government and District Buildings and their environment, from trade accounts and plantations with (presumably) German planters and landscapes. Possibly the album can be associated with Handelshuis C. Woermann that has been training with Cameroon since 1868 and had factories. The current city of Duala is meant to be the current city of Duala with the indication used in the captions used in the captions.
