Satellite telephony. An oil worker in a remote desert location using a mobile Inmarsat ground station to make a telephone call. The white, square object is the antenna, the silver box contains signal processing equipment. The Inmarsat network of geostationary satellites was designed to provide radio telephony services to maritime customers. The system is just as useful in very remote ground locations. This photograph was taken near Aden, Yemen.
