A French small-sword with chiselled hilt, circa 1750 Double-edged thrusting blade of flattened hexagonal section. Both sides bear gilt etching and the inscription, "ne me tirez Pas sans Raison, ne me Remettez Point sans honneur". Iron hilt chiselled in relief with remnants of (later) gilding against a matt background. Decorative martial trophies amid fine rocaille on the double shell-guard, knucklebow, and pommel.
