The annual 4th of July Makawao Rodeo, Hawaii's largest rodeo, held in the upcountry town of Makawao. Maui's cowboy or paniolo town got it's start in the early 1800's as a support community for the upcountry cattle ranches. Today you can still see the old hitching posts, Dodge City like store fronts with a number of local artist and craft galleries, restaurants, new age shops, boutiques, a health food store and one of Hawaii's best bakerys.
